Our company was born from a passion for orchids and a desire to take part in the social and economic development of Laos while taking part in the conservation of its unique biodiversity in the world.
We created a private company, “Vientiane Orchidées Company,” in response to (1) a study undertaken by the Department of botany of the National University of Laos on gathering illegal orchids and (2) a report about how Laotian orchids are in danger of disappearance.
Our actions are multiform:
- Suggest, create, manage projects that promote and assist the conservation of the orchids and of their natural environment in Laos.
- Develop a perennial culture of orchids among villagers and to bring socio-economic development.
- Raise and produce wild Laotian orchids provided by the laboratory of botany of the university of Laos under certification.
- Take part in the fight against the collecting and illegal trade of the orchids.
- Create a pool of conservation of the Lao species.
- Market our production in Laos and abroad.
- Create educational and academic opportunities by the conducting training courses and encouraging visits to our company.
- Promote lcitizen awareness on the dangers of the disappearance of the species and their natural habitat.
- Take part financially in the development of the capacities of research and production of the Laboratory of botany of the National University of Laos in connection with orchids.
